Foundations of Compositions II

After mastering the basics of composition, students need experience writing in a variety of formats. In this course, students’ primary project will be a research paper. Research writing is crucial for success in any field of study, and students will be guided through each step of the research process. Within guidelines, students will be encouraged to select a topic about which they are passionate as the subject of their research paper. To flesh out the semester and provide opportunities for students to practice other forms, they will also complete assignments in narrative writing, will write summaries based on STEM field articles of their choice, and will craft a thoughtful response to a literature selection, again of their own choice. The course will include targeted reviews of grammar and usage critical to proficient writing.
