Takes time to develop the plot but a good read

This was one of our read-a louds during our study of Ancient Egypt. It took time to set the stage for the mystery at hand. It covers a good bit of information of the life and style of living in those times. There is a light romance plot that develops where they describe kissing. Since we try to discourage kissing before marriage, I would skip those parts and move on with greater plot at hand. It was not heavy in that so it was easy to do. This book is intense in it's adventure but quite exciting and found myself reading fast and excited which added to the thrill of the story for my girls (4, 8 & 11) There is quite a bit of talk of the Egyptian gods but we were able to use that as a lesson of how sad it was that the people back then were zealous without knowledge and missed the truth. A high adventure story.
